En Haddenfield para Halloween de 1963, Michael Myers (Daeg Farch), el alejado y emocionalmente inestable niño de seis años, es encarcelado en el Sanatorio de Smith's Grove bajo el cuidado del Dr. Sam Loomis por los asesinatos del novio de su madre (Sheri Moon), su hermana y el novio de esta. Ahora, 15 años despues, es puesto en libertad por equivocacion y esta en busca de su hermana menor Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton). El Dr. Loomis debe advertirle a los residentes de Haddenfield y encontrar a Laurie antes de que Michael lo haga.
